Chris Gayle to miss Ram Slam T20 Challenge

Chris Gayle has said that he will "skip" joining up with Dolphins for South Africa's domestic Ram Slam T20 Challenge, as he is still recovering from injury. Gayle announced in a television interview during the Big Bash League match between Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat that he would not be travelling to Durban, instead focusing on making a return for West Indies' regional 50-over competition, which begins at the end of January.
This is the second time Gayle has withdrawn from Dolphins, after a similar situation two seasons ago. Gayle originally signed with Dolphins for the 2011-12 tournament but did not play a game. On that occasion, he arrived in South Africa carrying an injury, received treatment in Durban and then left when it became apparent that he would not recover in time.

Chris Gayle ruled out of ODI series against New Zealand

Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard have not been included in the West Indies squad to play New Zealand in the five-match One Day International (ODI) series starting December 26.

Gayle was sidelined following a hamstring injury sustained during the tour of India last month and Pollard, who did not travel to the sub-continent, is recovering from a knee injury, reports CMC.

Kirk Edwards, who is part of the West Indies Test team in New Zealand, has replaced Gayle in the 15-man squad announced Thursday. West Indies selectors have replaced left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul with Nikita Miller. Permaul had played two ODIs on the tour of India and took only one wicket.

The players in the ODI squad not currently taking part in the Test series in New Zealand have assembled in Barbados for a week-long training camp that ends next Sunday. The camp will include a series of training matches against players drawn from Barbados and the Sagicor WIHPC.

A release from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) says Lendl Simmons will arrive a couple days late for the camp due to personal reasons. The joining ODI players are due to arrive in New Zealand December 21.

Squad: Dwayne Bravo (captain), Tino Best, Darren Bravo, Johnson Charles, Narsingh Deonarine, Kirk Edwards, Jason Holder, Nikita Miller, Sunil Narine, Kieron Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons.

Chris Gayle run out & injured in 1st odi

Chris gayle and  Johnson Charles opened the innings for west indies.the first ball gayle faced was a dot....the second ball gayle played and went for a run and  Bhuvneshwar threw the ball on non-strike end !!!

And Chris Gayle is out second ball trying to get down to the other end and get off strike, with the throw from Bhuvi nailing him. Looks like Bhuvi, in his own way, has got the better of Gayle once more. Gayle is still writhing in agony on the pitch. His knee is tender so let's be hopeful he hasn't done serious damage. One of the more memorable starts to an international innings, and that too series

Gayle was in pain....hope it is not the hamstring !!! Get well soon .... hope we get to see him open the innings in 2nd odi !!!

333 - love faith & hope
